After 1 sale to a friendly eBid member, I thought it would be confidence-boosting to non-members coming in from Google Search if I imported my feedback, thus letting them see I have sold more than one item ... and those customers were happy.
But not a sale since on eBid. I have been reading the arguments pro and con about the imported feedback, and recently saw some very strong con statements by the eBid experts. One really struck me, pointing out that importing a feedback number gives no context for the curious buyer. They don't know if it was from buying or selling, or if similar items were involved.
Then there was the factor that it screwed up the feedback # total in my Repatoo badge on my All About Me Page, making it look like I had received about 50 more feedbacks than I really had.
So, after due consideration of the pros (potential customers see a large number of positive feedback next to my name) and the cons (potential customers have no clue if that is feedback as a buyer or seller), I decided to remove my imported feedback and rely again on inserting Repatoo badges to encourage customer confidence. With that badge to click on, the curious can decide for themselves if I am to be trusted. And they know that my eBid feedback number is ... only eBid feedback, with all of the comments there for them to see.
Many thanks to the wonderful and very busy people in eBid Support who, bless them, instantly removed the imported feedback without complaint.
And many thanks to the eBid experts for their considered opinions they have expressed on this issue!
