Thread: eBid Experts, You've Convinced Me - Imported Feedback vs Repatoo Badge

Default eBid Experts, You've Convinced Me - Imported Feedback vs Repatoo Badge

After 1 sale to a friendly eBid member, I thought it would be confidence-boosting to non-members coming in from Google Search if I imported my feedback, thus letting them see I have sold more than one item ... and those customers were happy.

But not a sale since on eBid. I have been reading the arguments pro and con about the imported feedback, and recently saw some very strong con statements by the eBid experts. One really struck me, pointing out that importing a feedback number gives no context for the curious buyer. They don't know if it was from buying or selling, or if similar items were involved.

Then there was the factor that it screwed up the feedback # total in my Repatoo badge on my All About Me Page, making it look like I had received about 50 more feedbacks than I really had.

So, after due consideration of the pros (potential customers see a large number of positive feedback next to my name) and the cons (potential customers have no clue if that is feedback as a buyer or seller), I decided to remove my imported feedback and rely again on inserting Repatoo badges to encourage customer confidence. With that badge to click on, the curious can decide for themselves if I am to be trusted. And they know that my eBid feedback number is ... only eBid feedback, with all of the comments there for them to see.

Many thanks to the wonderful and very busy people in eBid Support who, bless them, instantly removed the imported feedback without complaint.

And many thanks to the eBid experts for their considered opinions they have expressed on this issue!

IMHO you made the right decision. When I see a lot of imported fb, it doesn't do a thing for me except let me know a seller sold items on another site - not whether or not they're a good seller on eBid.

My fb is all from eBid as well. To those who claim it lowers their fb numbers dramatically I have a simple solution - buy some items. That way you raise your fb at the same time you're supporting the eBid community and, IMHO, getting some great deals as well.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I see you have white dice!!!! Weather here this morning is very still and foggy......not too cold...probably about 45*F. Daffodils are up about 8" tall. Glad the wind has stopped. It blew over a shed we had out back - now it's in bits. Good for firewood.

I don't know if I count as an eBid expert, only been here four years, but I have to say importing feedback was beneficial for me. Even if you get lots of sales you'll find it's a struggle to get ebid buyers to leave feedback. You may be on low feedback for some time.

Or it could simply mean that the seller bought a lot of items on another site! Which really says nothing about their seller reputation here. So the Repatoo badge allows the cautious buyer to check me out better than that imported feedback did.

Thank you for your encouragement, Your Majesty! If I am able to sell on another site -- where I would rather not be --, then I should be able to sell here. Just need to have more prospective customers find me via Google.

I should think 4 years would make you an eBid expert. Thank you for your comments. I am glad the imported feedback helped you. It seemed to do the opposite for me, since I did not sell anything here, but did elsewhere. Perhaps when you imported feedback there was a different breed of customers???

I don't know. But the problem for me is getting customers to find me here. I wouldn't mind my eBid feedback remaining low if I have many happy customers!

when I first came to Ebid, I imported my then amount of feedback from the other side, but things really took off once I made my first sale on here. I havent bothered to import "otherside" feedback in since, I had a bit to start off, and now its nice to have my Ebid feedbacks "on the top" of the list so that they are the first thing people see.
