Green/Purple is the sign of royalty.

I guess it could be a shade of green although I thought it was teal. I also guess that the by combining the pink and blue it did form a shade of purple although I think of purple as being a whole lot darker.
I actually think a bluish grey and mauve would be a good combination.

A long time ago I read up on using colors on websites and how to use complimentary colors for greater impact.
Green = growth, health, environment, harmony
Purple = royal, precious, romantic, sacred
Using purple with other colors
A deep eggplant purple with neutral tans or beige is an earthy, conservative color combination with a touch of the mystery that purple provides. Green and purple can be a striking combination in deep or bright jewel tones or use lighter shades for a cheerful, springlike feel.
A cool blue and a warm red combine to create deep purples and pale lavenders. To a lesser extent, shades of green, especially turquoise and teal, also have both the warming and cooling effects born of warm yellow and cool blue. Some light neutrals such as cream, pale beige, and taupe evoke some of the same warm and cool feelings of purples and greens. The opposite or clashing color for purple is green and for green, purple.

I definately prefer the red button. It makes me want to press (i.e click on it). Not sure about the new design but i hope the guys know what they're doing.
It will mean replacing all the sly little eBid logo's i've placed on my eb*y auctions though.
I'm sad to say that I'm not impressed by the green & purple example I've seen in a previous post. (#66) I would much recommend more of a Kelly Green & a deeper Royal Purple if it must be those two colors.

Well, i'll say what I think........and I don't like it at all
I pondered for quite a while, trying to think what it reminded me of........then it dawned

Afterthought....should have had a competition.....there's a fair amount of "design talent" around these very forums
