I had a chat with some of my friends who still work in the National Control Centre and they have had no news suggesting possible new powers being granted, I'll have a chat with RSPCA HQ in Horsham on Tuesday to see if there is anything in the pipeline.
As it is RSPCA currently have no more powers than you or I as can be seen in the attached clip. It might be a good idea if you could scan the document and let me have a copy as you have me seriously intruiged now

Tim Wass's opening statement says it all and he's the head of the Inspectorate so he should know, maybe the fundraisers haven't told him yet LOL

The document arrived more than a month ago...I binned it...like I do with all stuff I don't intend to file.

The information is easy to find on the RSPCA site....so I don't see why anyone else can't see it...I added the link here

My understanding is that the changes include animals being able to be taken away (by police) before a prosecution is started......haven't a clue what that will mean in practice as I don't keep pets.
quoting this ...as the info is in the link....

I checked out the link but don't see any reference to powers of entry.

I know that RSPCA do their own private prosecution and thats been the case for quite some time, at least since the AWA came into force in 2007 (2006 Wales) but that's no more than you or I could do and at the end of the day its down to the magistrates.

Controllers used to get feedback from the Inspectorate as a case was progressing, sometimes the final outcome was very depressing when you learnt what punitive penalties the courts had issued for some really serious and horrific cases of cruelty, some were as little as £100 fine and a five year ban on keeping animals.
You sometimes wonder if it was worth all the effort and stress.
I loved my job as a controller, yes it was sometimes very stressful, quite often it could be deeply upsetting, and there were of course the silly calls such as "can you come and rescue this fly from this spiders web" ( yes that was a genuine call from the public) I only gave it up due to ill health and have been told I can go back anytime I feel up to it.
