Wyoming Nephrite Jade Unpolished Slab: Varigated Type with Green to near-White

Nephrite jade from Wyoming is that state's official gemstone. This slab has some interesting patterns, as well as some translucency (you can see a flashlight beam through it). There are some interesting healed veils among the cloudy formations. Nephrite jade is the original jade type, valued among the ancients for its toughness (it is one of the toughest rocks used for gems - much tougher even than harder stones such as diamonds). The stone known as jadeite only became known in China only in the 1700s, and the most highly-valued "jade" of the ancient Chinese was actually nephrite, not jadeite. This large slab will allow you to cut many gem cabochons.
