World War 1/Titanic/Downton Abbey Lady in Evening Wear.

From about 1910, ladies fashions began to change from the long sweeping lines of the early Edwardian era to a much simpler and elegant style. Straighter skirts and looser, less restrictive bodices echoed the Empire lines at the turn of the previous century and hemlines gradually began to rise to ankle length or just above by the end of the First World War.

 This lovely lady stands approx. five and a half inches tall and is made from fine quality bisque porcelain. She has a porcelain torso to the waist, lower legs to the knee and porcelain arms to just below the shoulder. The rest of her body is soft with wiring to make her quite poseable.

 She wears a pure silk short sleeved evening gown in a lovely shade of peachy coral, overlaid with embroidered ivory cotton lace. The Empire waistline is further emphasised with an ombre ribbon belt embellished with golden filigree and hanging cords. She wears above-elbow white painted evening gloves with a crystal and faux pearl bracelet on one wrist, to match her necklace.

This pretty lady’s blonde hair is dressed softly and decorated with a golden filigree ornament and in one hand she carries a fancy feather fan

Underneath she wears white cotton lace-trimmed drawers and matching slim-line petticoat and tulle stockings. Her painted evening shoes are trimmed with delicate cord and ribbon buckles to match her belt.

This doll would make a wonderful Christmas or birthday present for somebody special or why not treat yourself.
