Seller's Description

Whale Fishery of New England written & published by Reynolds-DeWalt Printing Inc, New Bedford, MA, 1968. Republication. Paperback. No DJ. Size 8vo (up to 9-1/2'' tall). Condition: VG. Spot stain on front cover, edge wear, overall content excellent. 63 Pgs. This booklet was fir published in 1915 by the State Street Bank and Trust Co, Boston, MA. It was the ninth in a series of many useful and enterrtaining, essays, all of which have been lavisly illustrated. The editors of the 1915 edition showed some weeknesses in presenting historical facts which have been cleared up in this issue. In the field of natural history the editors of this edition caution the reader not to believe that whales attain the age of 800 years, nor that they sleep at the bottom of the ocean. Seamen have always been known for tellin ''whotters.'' With these words of caution, the reader is invited to enjoy this mixture of fact and some fiction.
