Original 1784 15 inch x 9 1/4 inch Etching titled VIEW OF THE CITY GATES AS THEY APPEARED BEFORE THEY WERE PULLED DOWN, TOGTHER WITH THE OLD GATE AT WHITEHALL & TEMPLEBAR

View of the ten gates in two rows of five, namely Bishopsgate, Cripplegate, Ludgate, Newgate, Moorgate, Aldgate, Bridgegate, Aldersgate, Templebar and Whitehall Gate; surrounded by thin frame festooned and garlanded; illustration to Thornton's History of London.

Etched by J.G. Wooding (active 1780 - 1790).

Published by Alexander Hogg, Kings Arms, 16 Paternoster Row, London.

The etching is in very good condition with general age-related foxing and minor defects from handling.
