Ultra Rare Trent Agate with Blue: Long Drop Cabochon; Cobalt Blue, Stibnite, &c

What can I say about the rarity of this material. Trent agate itself is rare enough, but pieces with blue coloring caused by traces of cobalt are much rarer still. Trent agate was dug for a very brief period around 1950 when the deposit was uncovered during railroad reconstruction. Its claim to fame was its combination of sagenite and/or stibnite needles along with some orpiment, realgar and/or other minerals encapsulated in clear chalcedony agate. Unique. There are a couple of small nicks along the back edge, although these should easily be hidden once set. Only a very few stones contained the blue tint. This piece is from my personal collection. This gem is polished on both sides and if set should be placed in an open-back setting so that it can be held up to the light to explore the interior. It will make an exquisitely rare pendant, centerpiece for a custom jewel design, or will fill a prominent place in your gem collection. Something that has seldom come on the market in the past, and will always be extremely rare in future.
