Graveyard Point Plume Agate: Unpolished Endcut, Beautiful Plume Formations

Graveyard Point is the designation for plume agate which comes from a large area along the Oregon-Idaho border. The original Graveyard Point dig was quickly eclipsed by new finds further to the west in Oregon, and the name was extended to cover the entire area. This piece shows the beautiful plume formations for which the area is famed. There are a few druzy vugs and angelwing edges to work around or include in your gem design. The piece is an endcut, and is thick on one half, while the other half tapers down to a thin edge. Its thickness means it is suitable both for lapidary projects, or for cutting many gemstones.

The photo which includes the measure/ruler was taken dry, the material in the other pictures was dampened to better approximate how the color might intensify when polished. Photos were taken under direct sunlight.
