Original 1876 11 3/4 inch x 8 3/4 inch Steel Engraving titled TOMB OF QUEEN ELIZABETH, HENRY VIITH CHAPEL, WESTMINSTER ABBEY
View of the tomb, in Henry VII's Chapel, Westminster Abbey; the queen's recumbent effigy on tomb slab supported by large base, with lions at four corners and Corinthian columns surrounding supporting the canopy, with further statues and tablets; the tomb shared with her sister Mary. With cleric and visitors.
Engraved by William Radclyffe (1783 - 1855). Engraver from Birmingham, worked mainly in London, numerous pupils; father of engravers Edward and William.
After Thomas Hosmer Shepherd (1793 - 1864). Thomas was the brother of topographical artist George "Sidney" Shepherd. Thomas was employed to illustrate architecture in London, and later Edinburgh, Bath and Bristol. His paintings were the basis for steel engravings in many books and supplying numerous drawings for the print trade and for extra-illustrators.
