Original 1866 6 3/8 inch x 9 5/8 inch engraving titled SPANISH CONTRABANDISTAS
A young woman holding a wounded contrabandista in her arms on the floor of a cottage, a mule standing nearby; another smuggler holding a gun at the window at left, and a third walking up a staircase at right.
Lettered below image with title: 'From the Picture in the Collection of the Queen, at Osborne.'
Engraving by William Ridgway (active 1855 - 1885). Reproductive engraver.
After John Phillip (1817 - 1867). A Scottish painter best known for his portrayals of Spanish life which he began after a trip to Spain in 1851. He was nicknamed "Spanish Phillip".
