Seller's Description

Saying Grace

This plate comes from a series "The Masterworks of Franz von Defregger".

Franz von Defregger was born into a farming family in Austria in 1835, but moved in 1861 to Munich,
where he spent the rest of his career. He became professor of art in the city, and established
himself as one of the leading German painters of the era. He died in 1921.

The plate is a limited edition from the Lilien company in Austria, made in 1988.
Lilien has been in operation since 1958, taking its name from the nearby convent
at Lilienfeld. In 1997, it was incorporated into the Swiss Langenthal group and unfortunately, like Langenthal
itself, production moved to Hungary.

This plate is from a series made while production was still in Austria.
