Original U.S. 18 inch x 12 inch Pre-Production Advertisement for the 1935 Lew Landers Horror Movie THE RAVEN, based on the poem by Edgar Allan Poe and starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Irene Ware, Lester Matthews, Inez Courtney, Samuel S. Hinds and Ian Wolfe.
The picture revolves around Edgar Allan Poe's homonymous poem, featuring Lugosi as a Poe-obsessed mad surgeon with a torture chamber in his basement and Karloff as a fugitive murderer on the run from the police.
The Advert Art is by movie art specialist Fred Kulz. Kulz, who created much of the ghoulish artwork for Universal’s famous monster movies (including Frankenstein and The Mummy), was Universal’s in-house artist in the 1930s.
The Advertisement is from the Universal Weekly of 1934/5 with two pages joined together at the back with conservation tape. Otherwise the Advertisement is in very good condition.
