Rare Brookite in Buff-top Quartz Gem,: Beautiful Xtl with Silver Rutile; 19+ cts

A rare brookite crystal anchors one end of this superb cabochon-top stone. The brookite is wrapped in extremely fine silver "rutile" needles, which spray out to give the entire gem a constant shimmer as it moves under the light. The crystal and threads of rutile are held in water-clear holding quartz. There are some natural voids on the sides and back, and the top has an excellent polish. The low domes on both front and back invite an open-back setting so that it can be appreciated from both front and back, or held up to the light. Will look great in silver, white gold or platinum. Very rare, from a single discovery in Brazil. A true collector stone, a larger size of this material for either your collection or for use in an utterly unusual jewel design.
