Main features:

- Cover Story:  Record producer Pete Waterman has clinched the deal which means that Waterman Railways will be operating the former InterCity Charter Trains unit from May next year.

- News:  BRT Class 20s prepared for North Yorks Moors naming; CrossRail scheme receives another blow; names announced for Anglia's DMUs and the Ocean Liner Express runs again.

- Preservation Progress:  Exciting plans for D400 to haul main line passenger trains in the Netherlands and Llangollen's Class 104 DMU enters service.

- Channel Tunnel:  The Queen and the French President officially opened the Channel Tunnel on May 7. Barrie Hughes has the full story in a Channel Tunnel Special feature.

- Exeter Specials:  Sunday and Monday May 1 and 2 saw the staging of the Exeter Rail Fair in Riverside Yard. Besides the Open Day a number of Railtours visited the area.

- Liveries:  Ian James provides a comprehensive listing on the current liveries, including sector decals, of the entire fleet of British Rail passenger and freight locomotives.
