Seller's Description
12inch x 18inch Poster Clitopilus prunulus is sometimes called the "Sweetbread Mushroom," or "The Miller"--references to the mealy odor. I have a strongly negative reaction to mealy mushrooms. The smell, labeled "farinaceous" in Mycologese, is sometimes compared to the smell of an old grain mill, or of watermelon rind. Most members of the genus Pholiota are wood-rotting saprobes with brown to cinnamon brown or rusty brown spore prints, gills that are attached to the stem but do not run down it, and rings or ring zones. Nolanea is a genus of small gray to brown pink-spored mushrooms which are mostly saprotrophic and grow on the ground. The cap can be conical, convex or umbonate in shape, often with a silky top. The gills have adnexed to adnate attachment (they can also be a little decurrent) and the stalk is fragile and often hollow. The spores are angular and are flesh colored to pink. Nolaneas are well known for being difficult to identify. - There is a border around the image. Image size is correct.
