Owyhee Flower Jasper Fan: Bold Golden Dendrites on Blue Background; 165.6 cts

The first hard jaspers to come out of the Owyhees were noted for their bold and colorful abstract patterns that fit perfectly with the Art Deco designs of the Roaring 20s. Later on, scenic landscape and floral picture patterns with blue skies were found in deeper layers, and the miners concentrated on those. This beautiful fan-shape tablet features great golden dendritic flowers or cat-tails (dendrites are branching formations resembling shrubs, trees or other plants) against a pale, blue-gray background. There are touches of red-brown, as well. The tablet-cut (very little dome) piece is polished on both sides. It will look great in either a silver or gold setting. It is an impressive, scenic collector piece of this old-dig variety.
