Oregon Sunstone Labradorite Faceted Oval: Dichroic Mauve+Green; 10x8mm; 2.99cts

A much brighter gem than my photos show, the camera makes this look orange, though it is more of a reddish mauve with green flashes. Dichroic stones show 2 different colors, depending on how they are oriented. This fascinating gem shows primarily mauve and copper-red with bright flashes of green from the pavilion facets deep within. The effect is one of mystery, like green lights flashing on and off from deep within. The copper-bearing, transparent variety of labradorite is only found in the remote deserts of eastern Oregon, and is that state's official gemstone. It would make an interesting piece for your collection or an intriguing centerpiece for a custom jewelry design.

The photos were taken under natural light. The gem is brighter, redder and more sparkly in-hand, and what may appear to be windowing merely the result of the angle at which I was forced to shoot (in order to avoid making the gem look too dark from the camera lens being reflected in the facets). In some photos, colors may be picked up from the holder or other items in the background. Item comes in the acrylic gem case as shown.
