*************
The Headland Hotel is located in Newquay, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is near Towan Head and overlooks Fistral Beach.
In 1911, Edward, Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince Albert (later Kings Edward VIII and George VI respectively) recuperated at the hotel after catching measles and mumps while studying at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.[1]
John and Carolyn Armstrong have owned the hotel since 1979 and have since then carried out an extensive facelift on it. A Cornish theme holiday village has recently been built on the headland overlooking Fistral Beach.[citation needed]
The hotel is the setting of the film The Witches, the 1990 adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel.[2] The Headland Hotel was renamed ""Hotel Excelsior"" in the film.
