These were released in 1985 by DC Comics and reprinted the legendary DEADMAN series that originally ran in the Strange Adventures title!
2 - June 1985 - "What Makes a Corpse Cry?" is by Carmine Infantino, Jack Miller and Neal Adams! This recaps Boston Bands life & death and his 1st meeting with Rama Kushna! He enters into a man to take out a counterfeiting gang! "Second Choice" sees A village in the dark ages is terrorized by an evil Sorcerer until a young peasant man journeys to Stonehenge to recruit the mysterious White Wizard in hopes he can help deal with the tyrant! Reprinted from House of Secrets #85 by Gerry Conway, Gil Kane & Neal Adams! "How Many Times Can a Guy Die?" by Infantino, J. Miller & N. Adams sees Deadman in a major battle with The Eagle, who seems to want to erase Boston Brands' memory from the public's eye! This also has a list of every single Deadman apperance!! Cool Beans, Man!
3 - Sept. 1985 - "How Many Times Can A Guy Die? Part 3!" While inhabiting Pete, a circus helper, Deadman discovers that the Eagle is using his acrobatic talents by staging jewel heists from skyscraper offices! Unforunately, Deadman (in Pete's body) is discovered, and Eagle's gang chases him onto a Ferris wheel. Eagle and Deadman (still as Pete) have a deadly hand-to-hand fight that climaxes with Eagle throwing Pete from the top car. Deadman quickly enters Tiny's body, who is below, and uses it to catch Pete safely! Eagle and his gang are arrested by the police, who arrive just in time to save Tiny, Pete, Lorna, and other circus people from being shot to death by Eagle's henchmen. While talking with a policeman, Deadman (in Tiny's body) learns that Eagle staged another robbery on the West Coast on September 10th. Since that was the day he was shot, Deadman knows that Eagle cannot be his killer...! "Second Choice Part 2 " Continuesof this saga a young peasant man, Henry Lansbury, recruited another to defeat the Black Wizard terrorizing his village. This tale ponders the outcome had our hero confronted the evil tyrant himself! "Hide and Seek" Deadman seeks to learn what has happened to the police detective assigned to his case. He discovers that the detective, Michael Riley, has been falsely accused of brutally beating a thief who had already surrendered to him, and has been kicked off the force. Deadman, learning the accusers were ex-boxer Peter Bones and a hook-handed man named "Roy Martin", suspects Martin of being the Hook and staging the frame-up to get Riley off his trail. Deadman enters Riley's body, confronts Bones, and learns that the ex-pugilist agreed to give false testimony along with "Martin/Hook" in exchange for money to buy feed for his pet pigeons, the only companions he has left. Deadman/Riley leaves to phone the police to pick up Bones and to apprehend the Hook, who is still living nearby. But in the interim, the Hook beats Bones to death with a crowbar and flees. A travel folder for Mexico found in the Hook's apartment indicates his destination is Mexico. Riley is restored to his post as police detective, but Deadman has once again failed to find his killer!
5 - Sept. 1985 - "The Call From Beyond!" Tiny has been seriously wounded, Deadman inhabits his body and merges with the deepest part of his being in order to enable him to fight back from the very edge of death! Vashnu sits by Tiny's bedside and prays for his recovery. Tiny's surgeon, Dr. Shasti, is also from India and recognizes Vashnu as a famous Mystic. Vashnu's presence and Tiny's miraculous recovery convince Dr. Shasti that the supernatural is involved! Dr. Shasti is also involved in psychic research and is attempting to get grant money for a group of "researchers" who, unknown to Dr. Shasti, are fakes. Deadman investigates and helps Dr. Shasti and his son expose the phony Medium Madam Pegeen and her gang. "The Track Of The Hook!" is reprinted from The Brave and the Bold #79. While aiding Commissioner Gordon in solving the murder of small time crook Whitey Marsh, Batman learns that the killer was wearing a hook. Deadman, having come to Gotham City to seek Batman's aid in finding his killer, believes the villain responsible, the Hook is in Gotham after overhearing the eye witness account of Marsh's murder. Aiding Batman, the two learn that the killer was not the man who Deadman is looking for, but a thug working for Kubla Kaine, a wealthy business man who is running for Mayor and is secretly running a crime syndicate out of Gotham City! Batman and Deadman find the killer, who dies in combat, and they expose Kaine's involvement in the criminal underworld ruining his bid for Mayor!
