Seller's Description
Original 1842 9 1/4 inch x 6 1/2 inch Stipple, etching and steel engraving titled MRS BURR.
Portrait of Mrs Burr; three quarter length, standing outside, to right, holding flowers to her chest; wearing dress with lace sleeves and striped fabric around waist.
Engraved by William Henry Mote (1803 - 1871). He was an English stipple and line engraver, primarily known for his portraits. He produced etchings for reference books, as well as original etchings. Mote became a member of the Royal Academy in his twenties and his portraits hang in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
After by Benjamin Rawlinson Faulkner (1787 - 1849). An English portrait-painter.
Inscription below title: London. Published for the Proprietor by Longman & Co., Paternoster Row, October 1, 1842.
