Original 1885 6 1/4 inch x 8 1/2 inch engraving titled THE MISSES VICKERS: “PORTRAITS DES MISSES * * *”.
The painting depicts three young ladies, from the Vickers family, in their estate in Bolsover Hill, Sheffield, England.
Engraved by Paul Jonnard (1840 - 1902). Wood-engraver, student of Auguste Trichon. Known for his work after Gustave Doré. Worked for British and French magazines, including the 'Magazine of Art'
Painted by John Singer Sargent (1856 - 1925). An American expatriate artist, considered the "leading portrait painter of his generation" for his evocations of Edwardian-era luxury.[2][3] He created roughly 900 oil paintings and more than 2,000 watercolors, as well as countless sketches and charcoal drawings. His oeuvre documents worldwide travel, from Venice to the Tyrol, Corfu, the Middle East, Montana, Maine, and Florida.
