Seller's Description
Original 1834 9 inch x 5 1/2 inch Engraving titled BIANCA VENAZZI.
A young woman standing three-quarter length to front, with head turned to left, looking down, her left arm leaning on a parapet, holding a mask in her right hand; wearing pearl headdress and necklace, low-cut dress, standing collar with pointed edging, broad sleeves and pearl broach on her bodice; column behind at left.
Engraved by Henry Richard Cook. Reproductive stipple engraver.
From the portrait by Frank Stone (1800–1859). Painter of historical genre and portraits; born in Manchester and began to study art at the age of 24. At the age of 31 he moved to London and exhibited mostly watercolours at first at the Royal Watercolour Society and after having been made a member resigned in 1847. Associate Royal Academician in 1851. Both he and his son Marcus Stone, also a painter, were friends of Charles Dickens.
