Original 1943 Re-Release Argentinian 29 inch x 43 inch Poster for the 1938 Archie Mayo Adventure THE ADVENTURES OF MARCO POLO starring Gary Cooper, Sigrid Gurie, Basil Rathbone, Binnie Barnes, Alan Hale, Ernest Truex, George Barbier and Lana Turner.
When Venetian explorer Marco Polo (Gary Cooper) and his assistant, Binguccio (Ernest Truex), travel to Peking to locate Chinese treasures, they meet Emperor Kublai Khan (George Barbier) and his beautiful daughter, Princess Kukachin (Sigrid Gurie). The emperor's adviser, Ahmed (Basil Rathbone), sends Marco away from the palace in order to overthrow Kublai Khan and marry Kukachin. It is up to Marco to stop the plot, defeat the villain and win the hand of the princess.
The poster art is by Osvaldo Venturi. (1900 - 1989).
Osvaldo Venturi studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated in 1923. In the period between 1940 and 1950 he became the most prolific Argentine poster designer particularly at the time when Guaranteed Pictures were churning out a huge number of film revivals.
The poster is in good folded condition with some vertical creasing.
