Mexican Redware Folk Art Ceramic Toucan Bird Figure

A very colorful handpainted Mexican folk art Toucan figurine. This adorable and lively toucan is a wonderful example of decorative Mexican redware originally made for the tourist trade.  The body of the toucan is painted red while the wings of the bird are painted with blues, greens and yellow.  The beak is painted a mute orange while yellow surrounds the birds eyes.  The tail of the bird is painted pink and purple.  The bird rests on a canopy of green leaves.

This highly collectible piece of Mexican folk art weighs 3.6 ounces.  It is approximately 4 inches tall, 2.5 inches in length x 1.5 inches in width. 

It has no scratches, scuff marks, chips, cracks, crazing, or repair.  The figurine does have two pinhead size nicks.  One is on the toucan's beak while the other is on the base of the figure.  It is in overall good condition.  The camera flash does shine on the high gloss finish making whitesh looking areas appear - they do not exist.

The piece is unsigned.
