Seller's Description
JACK KIRBY’S MISTER MIRACLE LOT!! Worth $88.00! $65.00 Shipped!!
This very cool Bronze Age Lot was among the earliest DC work from Jack Kirby after leaving Marvel Comics and his fertile mind was booming, creating characters and items still used today in the DCU! Every issue is complete with all pages and each issue is graded! This was Jack Kirby's foray into the Fourth World Universe for DC Comics after he left Marvel comics...and his mind was creating new universes! This title is WAY underrated in my opinion!
3 – Aug. 1971 – VF! “The Paranoid Pill!” is by Jack Kirby and Inker Vince Colletta, as Mr. Miracle is baited into a trap by Dr. Bedlam, one of Darkseid's agents! The trap is in the form of the Chandler Towers, a 50-story building full of people whom Bedlam has driven insane with a "Paranoid Pill" and Miracle is at the top floor, and the only exit is through the front door--and past 5,000 maniacs--at the bottom!!
9 – Aug. 1972 – VF/NM/NM-! This issue shows the origin of Mister Miracle and features the first appearance of Himon! Scott Free's life as a soldier for Apokolips takes an odd turn when he meets Himon, a 'Lowly' living in the slums near a Fire-pit, as he teaches a small cell of sentients various ways of building wonderful devices as a way of rebelling against the ruler of the planet, Darkseid! Sadly, technological genius is not going to be enough for a happy ending...!
12 – Feb. 1973 – GD. "Mystivac!" Mr. Miracle is challenged to a death-duel against Mystivac, an alien robot who has already given him a subconscious death wish! Oberon is befuddled!
13 – April 1973 – GD. “The Dictator's Dungeon!” is by Jack Kirby and Inker Mike Royer, as Mr. Miracle, Big Barda, and Ted Brown find themselves captured by King Komodo, the tyrant who held Ted Brown prisoner during the Korean War!
16 – Nov. 1973 – GD/VG. "Shilo Norman, Super Trouble!" Shilo Norman strikes his head, is knocked unconscious, and dreams he has an adventure battling Professor Egg and his insect-people! Trippy stuff, indeed!
…and as a cool Bonus Book, DC SPECIAL # 23 – Aug.-Sept. 1976 – VG. This cool book features some legendary Historic Characters! “The Secret of the Spanish Blade!” stars The Three Musketeers in a 17 pages romp by Bob Haney, Lee Elias and Ben Oda, as Athos, Porthos, Aramis and their protégé D'Artagnan take on Duc de Corbeau…also known as The Raven, after one of them takes a bet from Dulac that he can go to Spain and tug the King's beard! By a coincidence, a message between Corbeau and his co-conspirators against King Louis XIII ends up in Spain…and The Musketeers unwittingly bear the message back to their King, who ends Corbeau's conspiracy and his life! “Three Arrows against Doom!” stars Robin Hood by Bob Haney, Russ Heath and Gaspar Saladino, as Robin Hood, in disguise, tells three tales to Prince John!
