Original French 11 inch x 15 1/4 inch page with printed watercolour titled INTERIEUR DE LA CATHEDRALE DE SOISSONS
Soissons is a commune in the northern French department of Aisne, in the region of Hauts-de-France. Located on the river Aisne, about 62 miles northeast of Paris, it is one of the most ancient towns of France, and is probably the ancient capital of the Suessiones.
Printed watercolour by François Flameng (1856 - 1923). A notable French painter during the last quarter of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th. Flameng later received renown for his painting of World War I. He was named honorary president of the Society of Military Painters and an accredited documenter for the War Ministry. His work was displayed in the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris, as well as being reproduced in news magazines.
