SPECTACULAR HOLES
Golfers on winter vacations are
invariably charmed by the magnifi-
cent setting's in which they relax at
their favorite game. Several of
America's most spectacular holes
are described and pictured in this
feature (pg. 19) which covers courses
open to the public in Florida,
Nevada, Arizona and California.
BOROS TELLS STRATEGY
Julius Boros is a sturdy fellow who
looks as if he could literally beat a
golf course into submission by
charging every shot. The Open
champion, however, actually uses a
gentle touch wlien he plays golf. In
this story (pg. 24) he tells how he
sweet-talks and out-maneuvcrs a
course, instead of attacking it.
MOST IMPROVED PROS
Golf Digest's annual Most Im-
proved Professional awards are
iimong the most valued in golf. The
1963 winners are Tony Lema and
Marilynn Smith. Starting on page
46 each describes the swing al-
terations which helped the most
in raising the caliber of his or
lier performances during the year.
