Through adversity of storms, war, bandit raids, and economic depressions, boosters never quit. Railroads came, and it seemed Deep Water was on its way. Then hopes appeared dashed by the tragic 1919 hurricane. The killer storm was a blessing in disguise, leading to the industrial development of a modern city.
