These awesome Giant-Size Comics were first released in the summer of 1974 and are coveted by Comics’ Collector’s today!
I am the original owner...these are all bought by me off the newsstands when they were released! I’ll be listing many sets of these in the coming weeks!
1 – Feb. 1975 – NM- - “Chilling Tales": Framing sequence: The night watchman at an icehouse passes the time by reading horror stories. "The Gravesend Gorgon"a treasure-hunting sailor dismisses legends of a sea monster, only to discover the truth! "The Monster of Hedgewood Moor"When a series of brutal murders are committed on the English moors, suspicion falls on the hulking, dim-witted brother of a wheelchair-bound explorer! "The Lagoon Creature of Rising Sun": Sightings of a bizarre monster in Ohio! "The Fountain": In a land where the citizens drink daily from a magical fountain of wisdom, an ambitious young man attempts to drink more than his daily allotment! "The Girl Who Couldn't Die" A phony medium makes genuine contact with the spirit of a beautiful woman, only to learn too late the truth of her life and death! "The Borrowed Face" A man kills his employer with voodoo and uses a mask to impersonate him and steal his fortune. Of course, it backfires horribly...! "From Out of the Past" Three Professors brag that mankind has achieved its pinnacle, but their boasts are deflated when they discover the ruins of a far more advanced civilization! "Gilt-Edged Gnomes" a thief discovers the legendary treasure of the "little people," and pays the price! "Next Stop: Eternity" a bus driver drops off a lonely old woman in the middle of nowhere, and sees her restored to youth when she's reunited with her long-lost love!
2 – May 1975 – VF/NM/NM- - "Treasure Hunt with Death" The greedy relatives of a recently-deceased man hold a séance to force him to reveal his hidden treasure! "The House on Brook Street" a widow discovers her late husband's secret life as a black-magic cult leader! "The Triple Cross" An old man fakes his death to learn his heir's true character! "Let's Face It" a double-crossing businessman learns that his new accomplice is actually his old partner, having had plastic surgery! "The Couple Next Door" Overbearing Mrs. Slader bullies her henpecked husband into "keeping up with the Joneses. Whatever Mr. Jones gives his wife, Mrs. Slader demands the same from her husband. One day, Mr. Jones gives his wife a bullet in the head...! "The Pit of Fear" Fed up with his imps' laziness, Satan hires an efficiency expert to restore Hades to its proper working order! "The Watchers" a Scientist theorizes the existence of an Alien race observing and guiding humanity's advancement! "Fight for Life" Two seafaring brothers reveal their true characters as the ship sinks! "The Next World" a suicide finds himself in a topsy-turvy afterlife! "I Love a Mermaid" a Sailor falls in love with a mermaid!
3 – Aug. 1975 – GD – This kicks off with an awesome Bernie Wrightson Gargoyle cover! “Gargoyle Every Night”! by Bernie Wrightson (plot and Art) and Roy Thomas with Letters by Artie Simek followed by “The Warlock Tree”, “Desert Scream”!, “The Moving Finger Writhes”!, “The Monster”, “To Sneak, Perchance to Scream”! and finally “One Little Indian”!! Dan Adkins, Jack Kirby and Gene Colan do the art chores, among others!
