Printed colour postcard showing a view of the naval ensigns of some European countries manufactured by the Hannoversche Fahnen-Fabrik Franz Reinecke of Heinrichstrasse 14, Hannover, Prussia in the late 19th century. Flags shown are Deutschland, Oesterreich, Italien, England, Frankreich, Russland, Niederlande, Schweden, Norwegen, Spanien, Portugal, Griechenland, Türkei, Dänemark and Belgien.
Published by the Hannoversch Fahnenfabrik Franz Reinecke, Hannover, not numbered, undivided back.
Postally used in May 1898 with green 5pf stamp and sent to Messrs Osborn, Graham & Co, Ship Builders, Hylton, Sunderland, England and with double circle receipt postmark for Sunderland on 19 May 1898. Osbourne, Graham & Co Ltd was a major shipbuilder in Sunderland.
Good condition, with slight corner bumps, but small creases to both left corners, small 5mm tear to centre of top edge, some surface damage to the Italian flag and a thin strip of postage stamp selvage to the bottom edge.
