Seller's Description

Original Mexican 10 inch x 8 inch Still of director FRANCISCO DEL VILLAR and his cinematographer GABRIEL FIGUEROA for the 1962 Drama EL TEJEDOR DE MILAGROS, based on the play by Hugo Argüelles .

Francisco del Villar (1920 – 1978) was a Mexican film director, producer and screenwriter. He directed 22 films between 1952 and 1975. His film El Tejedor de Milagros was entered into the 12th Berlin International Film Festival.

Gabriel Figueroa was a Mexican director of photography. Orpaned in early childhood, he was forced to seek work as a boy, yet was able to pursue painting and still photography on his own. He bacame associated with a film studio in 1932, and in 1935 he went to Hollywood on its behalf to study motion picture photography as assistant to Gregg Toland. Returning to Mexico the following year, he began a prolific career as the cameraman of well over a hundred films, many of which won him international awards. He worked for Luis Bunuel and John Ford, among others, but his major contribution was on the films of Emilio Fernandez, the dense atmosphere of which owes much to Figueroas’s handling of the camera. He ranks among the leading directors of photography in world cinema.

El Tejedor de Milagros tells the story of a poor woman who gives birth to a child on Christmas eve. The ignorant villagers see this as a miracle and a collective hysteria breaks out

The still is in very good condition with minor surface marks.
