GEM TWISTS's dam, COLDLY NOBLE, a Thoroughbred mare given to the Chapot family had shown moderate success on the race track; her speed augmented GOOD TWIST's athletic jumping ability. Frank Chapo, a six-time Olympic veteran and coach of the U.S. team is the breeder of GEM TWIST and the only trainer GEM TWIST has ever known; the horse was born in New Jersey at Chapo's Chado Farms in 1979 and never left his careful hand.
