Seller's Description
Dick Haymes emerged in the 1940's with a need to express the feelings of the GIs and their sweethearts during one of the most romantic periods of the last century, the war years. The quintessential superstar had 9 gold records achieved before there was MTV or television. He is paired here with Helen Forrest, who served as the "girl singer" for three of the most popular big bands of the Swing Era (Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and Harry James), thereby earning a reputation as "the voice of the name bands." This Decca Record has a excellent grading, showing only minor scuffs and scratches that can be counted on one hand. Clean and clear sounding. No cracks, chips, or skips.
Side 23317-A offers "Long Ago" (And Far Away), from the 1944 American musical, "Cover Girl". Side 23317-B presents the familiar tune of, "Look For The Silver Lining". Both melodies are vocalized by the duet of Helen Forrest and Dick Haymes, with the Orchestra directed by Camarata.
