Crazy Lace Agate Cabochon: Subtle Cream Sagenite and Lace Patterns

The intricate, lace-like banding in Mexico's Crazy Lace agate is caused by layers of agate building up around needles of sagenite. This piece has a muted palette of creams, with crisply outlined patterns. This gem should fit into standard 40 x 30 mm settings. Not as garish as some Crazy Lace, yet with an interesting pattern that draws the eye into the piece. This came from material collected in the 1980s and 1990s.
