Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here is a circa 1939, 10 inch, jazz (fox trot & quick step tempos) recording. We grade at VG+ with normal playwear and no serious damage. Just light scuff and scratch marks for a mostly clear audio.
Side 17490 features the fox trot, "Wishing" (Will Make It So), and side 17492 presents, "Sing, My Heart", a quick step. Both melodies are from the 1939 RKO Picture, "Love Affair", remade in 1957 and renamed "An Affair To Remember", with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. These songs are orchestrated by Carroll Gibbons and the Savoy Hotel Orpheans, with vocals.
