Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here are the Latin sounds from the 1940's of the FABULOUS Xavier Cugat and his Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra.
Side CO 30882 presents Mendelssohn's "Spring Song", a Conga beat featuring a vocal chorus by the Cugat Chorus. Side CO 30883 lists Bizet's, "Farandole", also a Conga, from "L'Arlesienne Suite" also with vocal by the Cugat Chorus.
Very good condition with better than average gloss. No cracks, skips, or chips. Relatively few scuffs and scratches.
