Seller's Description

A Victrola Red Label released December 10, 1919, and one of the "Big Three" in label names. Long considered as some of the finest sound recordings, this single-sided record still plays great, with a decent gloss still showing. As clean as the label appears for a true-to-life audio! Faint playwear with only incidental scuffs and scratches. No chips, cracks, or skips.

Side 64630 presents this Irish tenor with Orchestra performance of, "That Tumble-Down Shack In Athlone", vocalized by John McCormack, best known for his ability as a concert performer and incomparable recitalist. Revered for his signature "closing pianissimi", a skill successfully achieved by few in the vocal world, only a few tenors have been unequivocally recognized for their lush vocal quality, elegant phrasing, outstanding diction, and remarkable breath support.
