Seller's Description

1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.

Offered here is an mostly clean and decent sounding pair of 1940's Duke Ellington Orchestra jazz arrangements.

Side WM 1136 presents the fox trot "Stormy Weather", from "22nd Edition of Cotton Club Parade" , and side WM 1138, "Sophisticated Lady", another fox trot. Moderate surface wear and some scratches are to be expected but no skips are caused. No breaks or chips, though a 1-inch hairline crack is beginning to show but causes no interference with the play.
