Original 1961 Re-Release German 23 inch x 33 inch Poster for the 1951 Raoul Walsh Naval Adventure CAPTAIN HORATIO HORNBLOWER, R.N., based on three C. S. Forester Horatio Hornblower novels: “The Happy Return” (1937), “A Ship of the Line” (1938) and “Flying Colours” (1938). and starring Alec Guinness, Dirk Bogarde, Anthony Quayle, Tom Bell, Nigel Stock, Murray Melvin, Victor Maddern, Maurice Denham, Johnny Briggs, David Robinson and Toke Townley.
Capt. Horatio Hornblower (Peck) helms the HMS Lydia for a treacherous transatlantic mission near the dawn of the 19th century, during which his faithful crew battle both a Spanish warship and a ragged band of Central American rebels. In the process, he also saves Lady Barbara Wellesley (Mayo), whose brother is the Duke of Wellington. Though the couple fall in love during their return to England, she is betrothed to Hornblower's rival, Rear Admiral Leighton (O'Dea).
