Original 1894 11 1/4 inch x 8 3/4 inch Chromolithograph titled BEGONIA PRESIDENT CARNOT.
The flower is named after Marie François Sadi Carnot, the President of France from 1887 until his assassination in 1894, stabbed by an Italian anarchist named Sante Geronimo Caserio.
