Backflash is a straight-to-video, low budget, thriller from 2002. It begins with a flashback, in which Robert Patrick's character, Ray, is seen lying face down on a motel room floor with shards of a broken champagne bottle scattered about his head. The film rides along at a decent, yet leisurely, pace, with a few twists and turns along the way.

Jennifer Esposito steals the show with a really watchable performance as the hitchiking, just-out-of-prison, tomboy Harley, but the film is well cast all the way through to the minor roles aswell, including a brief cameo from the popular character actor Michael J. Pollard as a security guard at the community bank (although it's not one of his best appearances).
