As well as the battles and campaigns, the book includes boxes on all the main commanders who led the confederate and Union armies. In parallel to the military maneuvers, the political events that occurred on both sides are also includied, so providing the background to strategic decisions, the movements of armies, and the appointment and dismissal of commanders.
