Seller's Description

1989 Summer Hose Pipe Ban – Newspaper Cutting – Daily Telegraph

  • Size: 29cm wide x 33cm tall
  • Condition: Used with a horizontal fold and some diagonal creases. Paper browning slightly with age. Would be best if placed behind a glass picture frame to flatten out the creases and make them invisible. See images for the condition of this newspaper cutting.
  • Comments: From the Daily Telegraph newspaper published on Tuesday 20th June, 1989, page 4. The main picture is of a NOAA satellite image of the UK taken at 1:30PM, the previous day (Monday 19th June 1989) showing a completely cloudless view of the UK. The image was downloaded, processed and released by Dundee University. The two headlines on p4 are: “Hosepipes ban as flaming June puts the heat on” by Wendy Holden & “Gardeners’ dream season turns to ashes” by Fred Witney. The reverse side of the newspaper cutting, p3 has part of a story and picture of Liverpudlian comedian Ken Dodd’s tax trial, and articles on a police matter and a Broadwater Farm story.
  • This cutting (p4) will be ideal for anyone collecting British Space Memorabilia as it shows the UK from space on a very rare cloudless day. For people who are Ken Dodd fans, although it does not contain the right most column of the news story about him, it does have a nice picture of Ken Dodd entering court (p3). If you know somebody who was born on either June 19 or 20th, 1989 then this would make a nice souvenir for them as the hose pipe ban story was very topical at the time.
  • This newspaper cutting will be sent in a nice sturdy cardboard envelope.
  • For buyers outside the UK, you are responsible for any customs duty or import taxes.
  • For returns the customer is responsible for the cost or repackaging and postage.
  • If you wish to combine this purchase with other items I sell, please contact me and I will recalculate combined postage for you.

Enjoy!
