1986S U.S. Coins Liberty Silver Proof Set
Gorgeous coins, in flawless condition
Issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty
These are in the original protective sealed capsules, in the original display case, with a certificate of authenticity from the San Francisco Mint
The streaks, hazy spots, and speckles are reflections from the cases and the magnifying glass
The dollar coin is 90% silver and 10% copper, and weighs .85 troy ounces, diameter is 1.5 inches.
The obverse shows the Statue of Liberty with the New York City skyline in the background, "Liberty", "Ellis Island, Gateway to America", "In God We Trust", the "S" mintmark and "1986".
The reverse shows the Torch, "United States of America", "E Pluribus Unum", "One Dollar", and a quotation from Emma Lazarus' poem "The New Colossus": "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free".
The composition of the half dollar coin is 92% copper and 8% nickel, weighs .36 troy ounces, diameter is 1.205 inches.
The obverse shows the Statue of Liberty facing New York City, with a sunrise behind it, "Liberty", "In God We Trust", the "S" mintmark and "1986".
The reverse shows an immigrant family standing on a dock facing the city, "United States of America", "A Nation of Immigrants", "E Pluribus Unum", and "Half Dollar".
