Seller's Description
This 4 x 6 inch, die-cut, Dexter card, #41186-B tells us:
"National Bison Range, Moiese, Montana. 50 miles north of Missoula near Jct. of Hwys. 93 and 10A, by the side of the Mission Mountains. In the early 1800's it is estimated that 60 million of the shaggy brutes roamed the plains. By 1900 there were only 20 wild bison left plus a few small private herds. Teddy Roosevelt set aside the 18,500 acres in 1908. The original herd started with 40 head. The present herd is held to about 400 - the range capacity. In addition there are 75 each of elk, antelope and bighorns - besides several hundred deer."
