The equestrian statue by Cyrus E. Dallin was erected to the memory of the great patriot, Paul Revere. In the background is Christ Church, more commonly known as 'Old North Church'; from its steeple the lanterns were displayed by order of Paul Revere to signal the advance of the British troops upon the Colonists on the night of April 18, 1775.
