Card #12969 is "Taken from an original oil painting by the noted cowboy artist and poet, L.H. "Dude" Larsen." Messaged and mailed "Free" from Camp Ellis, Illinois in 1944 by Pfc. Vic Roberts to his sister? Miss Kay Roberts, who's serving as an RN at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The face shows the artist's signature on the lower-left and the painting date of 1940. Traces of cancel marks show across the top along with modest corner wear. Mostly clean, with no tears or creases.
