Some Information About seahamlad

Giving you a little more insight into the seller.

The above photograph was taken by me on 1 November 2006 at 15.41. This was a heavy sea but not as heavy as the day of our lifeboat disaster of 17 November 1962 when the Liverpool class George Elmy capsized with the loss of all 5 lifeboat crew and 4 of the fishermen (including a 9 year old boy).

Terms and Conditions of Sale:

MULTIPLE PURCHASES

Please wait for an invoice or better still request an invoice before paying if you want to take advantage of combined postage costs.

I have up until today offered to refund any paypal payments in order for you to pay a single payment but now paypal charge me not only per transaction but also per refund (the transaction fee) so ineffect I am out of pocket.

If you buy a card  and pay for it by paypal and then buy another and pay for it I am afraid that it is now your loss. I will still only post them in one envelope to you.

As mean as it sounds it not only causes me more unnecessary work but also costs me more money.

POSTAGE & PACKING

·         All cards are posted by first class mail (UK) and airmail (Europe and RoW) and a certificate of posting is always obtained.

·         Should signed for or special delivery be required, this is charged at cost and must be requested

·         At the moment I post on receipt of cleared payment but this may change on account of my mobility. I will email if there will be any delay in posting.

 ·                  All cards/paper items are placed in new plastic or clear paper packets and posted in new card backed envelopes.

PAYMENT DETAILS

UK –Paypal, cheque (drawn on UK bank in GBP), postal order or cash (at own risk).

OVERSEAS –Paypal only. (Paypal by echeques only if you are prepared to wait the lengthy period for clearance)

ALL PAYMENTS TO BE RECEIVED WITHIN 5 DAYS OF PURCHASE.

PLEASE CONTACT ME IF THIS IS A PROBLEM AND WE CAN RESOLVE IT.

NON-PAYING BIDDERS ARE REPORTED.

CARDS LOST IN THE POST:

·         Please be aware that if your item is lost in the post without insurance, the Royal Mail claim that they will only pay up to 100 times of the cost of the stamp (first/second class) compensation for any actual item.

·         Royal Mail state we can’t claim until 15 working days have passed.

·         However, from my experience they operate double standards regarding postcards in as much they pay only actual manufacturing cost or cost to buy. (They averaged out my auction buys to arrive at a price per card with total disregard to wastage/ unsalable cards due to condition/lack of commercial appeal etc)

·         I suggested to them that it would be better for buyers to make their own claim but was told they would only refer buyers back to the seller to claim.

·         In view of Royal Mail’s distinctly unfair and uncompromising stand I regret that I will not refund any monies regarding claims for lost mail and will only refund what Royal Mail refund me (a book of 6 x first class stamps) and I will use one of the stamps to post out the other 5.

·         I am now taking this drastic action because I am tired of claims and being out of pocket as a result. Royal Mail did reimburse me for one lost card and then said it was an error!

·         I appreciate that this may upset some people. I have many good and honest buyers and perhaps some who are not so.... I mean no offence but it is a sign of the times that people make claims of lost mail in order for refunds. In view of this I must treat all my buyers the same and hence my stand on this.

I always obtain a Certificate of Posting

FEEDBACK:

·         I leave feedback on every purchase and appreciate feedback being left for me.

·         This will be done shortly after I know that your item has reached you safely and that you are happy with your purchase.

·         If you’re not happy with your purchase for whatever reason, please contact me so that I can resolve the problem.

·         Each item is checked prior to listing and described accordingly, but mistakes can sometimes happen. If your item isn’t as it should be, then contact me straight away so that I can put things right. An e-mail is always a much better way to resolve a small problem, than a pointless exchange of poor feedback.

If you do not accept my terms, then please do not bid.

I was medically retired in 2008 and so decided to turn my hobby into a business. I have several thousand cards to list of all subjects and countries and varying quality and frequently attend auctions to update my stocks - it is time consuming  and my age and health make this a slow process so please bear with me and check back regularly. Feel free to let me know your wants and I can try to list them as early as possible if I have them in stock.

I have now fully retired and no longer operate as a business but just something to keep me active within my limitations.
